Nebraska Chamber Announces Schedule for 2017 Legislative Forums

Nebraska Chamber Announces Schedule for 2017 Legislative Forums

Wednesday, August 23, 2017 - 11:45am

LINCOLN – Beginning Aug. 30, staff members with the Nebraska Chamber of Commerce & Industry will travel the state to present the Chamber’s 2017 legislative forums.

The State Chamber will visit a total of 25 Nebraska communities.

For 35 years, the State Chamber has conducted these legislative forums in cooperation with local chambers of commerce across Nebraska.

The forums allow the State Chamber to gather input from business leaders on important issues, while Chamber staff summarizes recent state legislation impacting the business community and reviews Nebraska’s competitiveness in national studies and comparisons.

This year’s State Chamber forums will include a review of:

  • Important legislation from the 2017 session of the Nebraska Legislature;
  • Issues awaiting the Legislature in 2018; and
  • The latest state rankings in areas important to the business community.

Chamber of commerce members, along with members of the news media, are invited to attend.  State lawmakers are also invited.

Nebraska Chamber President Barry Kennedy said: “From workforce and housing shortages, to taxes and regulations, the business community has its share of challenges.  But there is also much reason for optimism in Nebraska.  These forums will provide business leaders an opportunity to convey their concerns to the State Chamber, while highlighting ways state leaders are addressing the issues affecting the private sector.”

To make reservations for a forum near you, contact your local chamber of commerce.  (See attached schedule for contact information.)

The State Chamber is Nebraska’s largest statewide business association and has served as the voice of Nebraska’s business community since 1912.
