LINCOLN – On Thursday, Oct. 12, the Nebraska Chamber of Commerce and Industry will host its annual Manufacturing and Distribution Summit at the CenturyLink Center in Omaha, from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m.  This is one of Nebraska’s largest manufacturing events of the year and is part of October’s salute to manufacturing.

Manufacturing is Nebraska’s second largest industry and the sector produces approximately $14 billion annually for the state’s economy.

Sponsored by RSM – a leading provider of audit, tax and consulting services – this free summit is for those involved in manufacturing and related sectors.

The manufacturing summit will feature an update from Jay Timmons, president and CEO of the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) – the nation’s largest manufacturing association and a powerful voice in Washington, D.C. on issues such as labor relations, trade policy and taxes.

Other highlights will include:

  • A keynote presentation from Eric Burkland, president of the Ohio Manufacturers’ Association;
  • A Nebraska economic update from Creighton University economist Ernie Goss;
  • A discussion panel featuring prominent Nebraska business leaders and state officials; and
  • A special ceremony with Governor Pete Ricketts to announce the Nebraska Manufacturer of 2017.

Breakfast and lunch will be provided, but individuals must register in advance.

The summit will coincide with the Nebraska Products Show for Business and Industry – one of the largest, most diverse business expos in the Midwest.
